THE CONSOLIDATED RETIREMENT FUND FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT (CRF) recently opened their doors in Kimberley with a regional office. They are one of the largest and fastest-growing Local Government funds in South Africa, providing members with excellent retirement solutions.

Nationally, all local government employees, officials, and councillors are welcome to join.

Their asset base is over R36 billion, and they currently have more than 53 000 contributing members and councillors.

CRF joined hands with Portfolium to provide members with expert financial advice.

BUT WHO IS PORTFOLIUM?

They are a financial services firm offering customised financial planning services to retirement funds and their members. They help you understand how to save enough during your working life, why you should not cash in retirement savings prior to retirement, and how to invest optimally before and during retirement.

During the official opening, the Chairman of the CRF, Soyisile Mokweni, welcomed all the invited guests and dignitaries. During his opening speech, Mokweni said that they have a total of 124 municipalities affiliated with the CRF. Mokweni explained that in 2019, a default regulation was brought in by the government that officials who retire should have the option to retire into the fund.

We as CRF were the early adopters when the regulation was brought in, and we have been assisting members since then. We have also started opening regional offices, with more to come as time goes on.

According to Mokweni, they have opened a total of four regional offices in addition to the Cape Town Head office, which are situated in George, East London, Gqeberha, and now Kimberley.

This is to allow members direct access to people in an office, and members are requested to make use of the regional offices and the financial advisers available to assist them.

“We also have a CRF App, and members are encouraged to download the App.

“All the information you need will be available on the App, which will greatly assist you with information,” Mokweni concluded.

After all the speeches were concluded, they officially opened the Kimberley office with champagne and the cutting of the ribbon.

The new office is located at 1-9 Jacobus Smit Street, Royal Glen, Kimberley (complex of the Choctaw Spur), Unit 5, Royalyard Park.
