Stash of ammunition seized from plot near Orania

A STASH of ammunition was confiscated from a plot near Orania on Wednesday.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Colonel Mashay Gamieldien said the Hopetown police and members of the De Aar Explosives unit discovered one trip flair, 41 rounds of shotgun ammunition, 61 blank rounds and six rounds of .22 ammunition after following up on information relating to ammunition and explosives.
“A 48-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with the illegal possession of ammunition and unauthorised explosives. He is expected to appear in the Hopetown Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Gamieldien.
“The police will continue to tighten their grip on crime during the festive season. The police urge the public to continue to provide information regarding criminal activities, as they are the eyes and ears of the police in the fight against crime. Information can be reported via the MYSAPS app and will be treated confidentially,” she added.
