Well-known N Cape farmer hospitalised after freak accident

SANDI KWON HOO CHIEF REPORTER

GWK Vice-chairperson Frank Lawrence is recovering in hospital following a freak accident that occurred on his farm near Jacobsdal earlier this week.

He was admitted to hospital after sustaining serious internal and external injuries, including broken ribs, during the incident on Monday.

GWK executive head of marketing and communications Neil de Klerk said yesterday that Lawrence was receiving the best possible care following the accident.

"Lawrence, a well-known and experienced farmer, was injured while calibrating farming implements on Monday when the incident occurred, where he was hit by moving equipment," said De Klerk.

He added that, according to family members, Lawrence’s condition was stable.

"His family have expressed heartfelt thanks for all the well-wishes received from so many people who really care about him and his well-being."

GWK chairperson Hennie Coetzee and GWK group managing director Llewellyn Brooks, on behalf of the GWK board of directors, management and personnel, extended their well-wishes.

“We will keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers and believe he will return to full health soon.”
